The Launch of hemodialysis services at Samtse Hospital
[CLOSED] This post is no longer valid1st August 2022: Coinciding with the auspicious Drup Tshe Zhi, the Ministry of Health and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Bhutan launched the hemodialysis services at Samtse hospital today.
The event was graced by the Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Chief Representative of JICA Bhutan. Other dignitaries including Venerable Lam Neten, Hon’ble D.K Pradhan, Member of Parliament Samtse, Executive Director of Bhutan Kidney Foundation, Dzongkhag Administration, and officials from the Ministry of Health attended the event.
Specialised services like hemodialysis are introduced and strengthened in identified cluster health facilities across the nation to address health equity across the country by narrowing the gap. With this initiative, patients from Samtse will no longer have to travel to Phuntsholing and Thimphu thus reducing the social and economic pressure on the patients and family members.
The introduction and strengthening of hemodialysis services in the country is a component of the technical cooperation project “strengthening COVID-19 TEST and health service delivery” supported by JICA.
